TAPESCRIPT
Mark:
You know, it makes me so angry to see
how dirty and polluted our town is now.
People drop litter everywhere in the
streets, especially the tourists. The traffic
is much worse than ten years ago, and I
hate cycling now because it’s so dangerous.
You can’t breathe because the car fumes
are so bad.
Sarah:
I know what you mean, but think about
the world in general. It’s not just our town
that is dying ... look at the rainforests.
Why do they cut so many trees down?
Mark:
Well, they need more land to grow more
food, not only for humans but for animals
as well. But I think we should do
something for our local environment first.
Fewer cars would be great, wouldn’t it?
I think more people should use public
transport and leave their cars at home.
Sarah:
I agree, but I’m more worried about global
pollution and global temperatures. Look
how hot the summers are now and the
winters are much warmer too. You realise
that this increase in temperatures is
causing the ice at the poles to melt and
soon coastal cities will be flooded. I just
don’t want to think about it.
Mark:
Why don’t we join our local ‘green’ group
and then we can start a campaign to clean
up the town and then we can go global!
Sarah:
Good idea! Let’s go to the library now.
