For Head Circumference 56 – 58 cm/22 – 23” 
 
Materials - Softy from Austermann 
98 % Merino Wool,2% Polyamid, each ball = approx 53 m/ 50 g 
100g Color 04 beige, 50g Color 07 grau (gray) 

 

Knitting needles size 7 mm (US 10 ½) and one set (5) dpn size 7 mm (US 10 ½) from 
Schoeller + Stahl 
 
Basic Pat 1: (Gauge: 11 sts and 22 rows = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4”) 
Garter st in rows (K every row) with size 7 mm (US 10 1/2) needles 
 
Basic Pat 2: 
K2, P2 Rib in rnds with size 7 mm (US 10 1/2) needles 
 
Instructions: 
The main piece of the Hat is worked sideways. With beige cast on 31 sts and work in Garter st for 42 cm/16 ½”, then sew the 
open sts to the cast-on sts. For the top of hat, along the left edge with dpn pick up 44 sts, join and work 2 rnds in K2, P2 rib. On 
the next rnd, work every K2 tog (11 sts dec’d). On the next rnd, work every P2 tog = 22 sts. On the last rnd, work K2tog around. 
Cut yarn and draw through rem 11 sts. 
Finishing: 
Make a 9 cm/3 ½” Pompon in grau and sew to top of hat.
