• LION BRAND Size H-8 (5 mm) crochet hook OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
Gauge
After 5 rows, Shawl should measure approximately 6” across top and 3” from center of
top to bottom of point.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.
NOTE
Entire Shawl is worked holding 2 strands of thread together.
STITCH EXPLANATION
Point Shell (Dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc) all in same stitch.
SHAWL
Ch 4.
Row 1 (WS) Dc, (ch 1, dc) 3 times in 4

ch from hook. Ch 4, turn.
Row 2 (RS) Dc in first dc, ch 1, dc in next dc, ch 1, point shell in next dc, ch 1, dc in next
dc, ch 1, (dc, ch 1, dc) in 3rd ch of turning ch4. Ch 4, turn.
Row 3 Dc in first dc, ch 1, (dc in next dc, ch 1) 3 times, point shell in next dc (this is
center dc of point shell of last row), ch 1, (dc in next dc, ch 1) 3 times, (dc, ch 1, dc) in
3rd ch of turning ch4. Ch 4, turn.
Row 4 Dc in first dc, ch 1, (dc in next dc, ch 1) 5 times, point shell in next dc (this is
center dc of point shell of last row), ch 1, (dc in next dc, ch 1) 5 times, (dc, ch 1, dc) in

Rows 12 – 47 Repeat Rows 6 – 11 six times more. At the end of Row 47, do not ch 4,
just turn.
Shell Border
With RS facing, skip first 2 dc, (5 dc in next dc, skip next dc, slip st in next dc, skip next
dc), across to center dc of point shell, 7 dc in this dc, skip next dc, slip st in next dc, (skip
next dc, 5 dc in next dc, skip next dc, slip st in next dc) across to end of row. Working
along top edge of Shawl/Sarong, 5 dc in base of first dc, skip next dc, (slip st around post
of next dc, skip next dc, 5 dc in base of next dc, skip next dc) across to center of top edge,
slip st in starting ch, 5 dc in base of next dc, (skip next dc, slip st around post of next dc,
skip next dc, 5 dc in base of next dc) across to corner. Slip st in corner st. Fasten off.
