NOTE: Supplementary information for engine/cylinder head overhaul.
Align timing chain links (black) [10] & [11] with marked camshaft sprocket teeth [12] & [13].
Ensure timing pins located correctly [6] & [7].
1.
Tighten bolts finger tight [9].
2.
Turn camshaft sprocket fully clockwise in slotted holes.
3.
Fit timing belt to crankshaft sprocket.
4.
Secure belt to crankshaft sprocket with retaining clip. Tool No.(-).0188.K [14].
5.
Fit timing belt in anti-clockwise direction. Ensure belt is taut between sprockets.
6.
Lay belt on camshaft sprocket teeth. Engage belt teeth by turning sprocket slightly anti-clockwise.
NOTE: Angular movement of sprocket must not be more than one tooth space [15].
7.
Fit timing belt to water pump sprocket and tensioner pulley.
8.
Slacken tensioner bolt [8].
9.
Turn tensioner pulley anti-clockwise to temporarily tension belt. Use tool No.(-).0188.J2.
10.
Lightly tighten tensioner bolt [8].
11.
Remove retaining clip [14].
12.
Attach tension gauge to belt at
[16]. Tool No.SEEM CTG 105.M.
13.
Turn tensioner pulley anti-clockwise until tension gauge indicates 106±2 SEEM units.
14.
Tighten tensioner bolt [8]. Tightening torque: 25 Nm.
15.
Remove tension gauge [16].
16.
Ensure sprocket bolts not at end of slotted holes [17].
17.
If necessary: Repeat installation procedure.
18.
Tighten camshaft sprocket bolts [9]. Tightening torque: 20 Nm.
19.
Remove timing pins [6] & [7].
20.
Turn crankshaft eight turns clockwise to setting position.
NOTE: DO NOT allow crankshaft to turn anti-clockwise.
21.
Insert timing pin [6].
22.
Slacken camshaft sprocket bolts [9].
23.
Insert timing pin [7].
24.
Slacken tensioner bolt to release tension on belt [8].
25.
Attach tension gauge to belt at
[16].
26.
Turn tensioner pulley anti-clockwise until tension gauge indicates 51±3 SEEM units.
27.
Hold tensioner pulley in position. Tighten tensioner bolt [8]. Tightening torque: 25 Nm.
28.
Tighten camshaft sprocket bolts [9]. Tightening torque: 20 Nm.
29.
Remove tension gauge [16].
30.
Check belt tension: Attach tension gauge to belt at
[16]. Tension gauge should indicate 51±3 SEEM units.
31.
If not: Repeat tensioning procedure.
32.
Remove tension gauge [16].
33.
Remove timing pins [6] & [7].
34.
Turn crankshaft two turns clockwise to setting position.
35.
Insert timing pin in flywheel [6].
36.
Ensure timing pin can be inserted easily [7].
37.
Remove timing pin [6].
38.
Install components in reverse order of removal.
39.
Remove bolt and 17 mm spacer. Refit bolt [3]. Tighten bolt to 15 Nm [3].
40.
Clean crankshaft pulley bolt and crankshaft threads.

Coat crankshaft pulley bolt with suitable thread locking compound.

Tighten crankshaft pulley bolt [1]. Tightening torque: 40 Nm + 51°.
