Title

V360 - GSM - No display or audio due to flip assembly.

Model Effected

Malta GSM

PROBLEM

Service is aware of an issue, identified in the GSM V360 (Malta) LATAM MOL analysis, with customer returns complaints of
main/secondary display or audio issues”. The root cause analysis identified a Pemstar flip assembly process issue causing several
display or flip complaints due to issues in LCD flex and connectors loose.

SOLUTION

The Pemstar rectified it process since 07/24/2006 requiring operator must obey Pemstar MPI
assembly main LCD, double checking the LCD's flex and all operator must press the back of main
LCD connector before assembly inner housing. It avoid the connector loose when transferring the
LCD module during building.

FIELD SERVICE ACTION

When Service receives any GSM V360 phone return with “No main/secondary display or flip” complaint, proceed as below:

a.

Proceed a general function check in the phone.

b.

Dis-assemble and replace the flip with a known good one to determine if the failure mode follows the flip assembly.

c.

If the failure mode does not follow the flip, proceeded with normal troubleshooting techniques to identify the issue.

d.

Dis-assemble the flip and reconnect all flip connectors and make a inspection in flex cables looking for wire disruption or

cracked flex cables.

e.

If it is found replace the flex cable or LCD module by a good one and check the display

functions.

CALL CENTER ACTION

When receiving complaints about “No main/secondary Display or flip” complaint on V360 phones, the Call Center should direct
customer to have phone serviced at an Authorized Service Center.
