ICE-DIVING IN RUSSIA
The Russian North has a great potential for extreme tourism, but a long 9-month winter turns most
of the year into a low season for most tour services. An exception is the White Sea ice-diving,
a unique local service attracting divers from Russia, the United States and Europe. The ice-diving
season lasts from February to April, which is 1) ……………… with light day duration on the Polar

Winter diving in the US and in Europe involves fresh water lakes. By contrast, in the White Sea
marine creatures appear in all their glory in incredibly clear water with a visibility reaching 50

underwater rocks and rifts a curious visitor will experience a meeting with their inhabitants, such as
