Fir Cones on the Mountains

This shawl was made with just under two skeins of Jawoll Magic yarn from Lang Yarns. It is a fingering weight yarn. It was
made with size 9 circular needle, but the size is simply to your taste. Because it is knit from the center neck edge out,
one can stop knitting when the shawl is the size you wish. Gauge is not terribly significant. The size of the shawl pictured
is approximately 65” wide.


Cast On 5 stitches
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: Knit into the front and back of every
stitch. 10 stitches
Row 3, 4 and 5: Knit
Row 6: *Knit 1, YO* repeat between * to
last stitch. Knit into front and back of final
stitch. 20 stitches.
Row 7 through 12: Knit
Row 13: repeat row 6. 40 stitches
Row 14, 16 and 18: Knit 4, Purl to last 4, knit
4
Row 15 and 17: Knit
Row 19: Knit 4,*K2Tog, YO* repeat between
* to last 4 stitches, Knit 4
Rows 20, 22 and 24: Knit 4, Purl to last 4,
Knit 4
Row 21 and 23: Knit
Row 25: Knit into the front and back of first

two stitches, YO, *Knit 1, YO* repeat between * until last two stitches, knit into the front and back of last two stitches.
80 Stitches
For rows 26 through 46: Knit 4, purl to last 4, knit 4 on all even rows. Knit on all odd rows
Row 47: Repeat Row 25. 160 stitches.
Rows 48 through 52: Repeat instructions for rows 26 through 46
Row 53 Knit 4,*K2Tog, YO* repeat between * to last 4 stitches, Knit 4
Rows 54 through 60: Repeat instructions for rows 26 through 46
Row 61 through : Begin Fir Cone pattern. For each row in the pattern, knit 4, follow pattern for that row, knit 3. Repeat
Fir Cone Pattern Three Times
Row 97: Repeat Row 25. 320 Stitches.
Row 98: Knit 4, purl to last 5, Knit 5
Row 99 through Row 124: Begin Florette Pattern. For each row in the pattern, knit 5, follow pattern for that row, knit 4.
Repeat the pattern twice.
Row 125: Knit
Row 126: Knit 4, purl to last 4, Knit 4
Row 127: Begin Mountain Range pattern. For each row in the pattern, knit 4, follow pattern for that row, knit 4. Repeat
this pattern twice or more if desired.
Bind off loosely
Block and weave in ends.
