Bomb Bloke's X-Com Toolkit

By Jeffrey Alexander (aka Bomb Bloke)

Greets and welcome to BB's toolkit. This is a collection of various programs and utilities for use with UFO: Enemy Unknown and X-Com II: Terror from the Deep. They all require an up to date version of the Java VM, though as a general rule this is just for installation - You can typically take advantage of the end effects under DosBox or similar. Speaking of which, the first step towards getting setup is to extract this archive directly into your game directory.

Although these have been seperately released in the past, I've decided to throw them all in together with my battlescape editor. There are two main reasons for this.

First off, compatibility. These programs are mostly written in Java and so are made up of multiple files. Rather then re-invent the wheel each time I code something new I've designed things in such a way that these modules can be shared between programs, which is fine until you consider that I'm forever changing what these modules do and how they operate.

A user might install one program, then install an older one at a later date. This would potentially break the newer software (as the shared modules would get overwritten by obsolete versions). Combining everything together in one pack prevents this from happening.

The other reason is ease of updating. Usually I only release updated programs when I add some feature I consider especially cool, or fix some bug that I consider especially embarrising - But between times, I usually make all sorts of minor changes that generally make things faster or more stable. With everything together, every time I set out to release an update for one program I'm also releasing any updates for the others while I'm at it.

Anyhoo, hopefully you get some use or enjoyment out of this lot, though they aren't the only such tools I've written. Until next time.
