GEM-P3200 & GEM-P9600
U. L. Residential Fire Alarm Requirements
Addendum to Installation Instructions
Beginning August 3, 1998, U. L. Residential Fire Alarm installations and Combination Residential Fire and Burglary
Alarm installations will require the following:
" The Bell Output must be supervised for an open in the circuit.
" The Fire Alarm signaling device must sound in a Temporal Pattern (Cadenced March Pattern).
" The installation must be configured to allow for a standby time of 24 hours.
" Wireless Smoke Low Battery must resound every 4 hours until restored.
The current version of the GEM-P3200 and GEM-P9600 will support all of these features. These panels are marked
with a version 11 or greater triangle number which will appear on the control panel in the form of a triangular shaped
sticker, or on the side of the carton following the 5 digit date code (XXXXX11).
Supervised Bell Output
To enable Supervised Bell Output, add a [ " 4 ] to program location 2422. To enable the Supervised Bell Output using
PCD3000, Version 3.29, select Supervise Alarm Output on the Options screen. When this feature is enabled,a 2.2K
EOL resistor must then be installed across the bell or siren terminals. If the resistor is missing or removed, an E51-00
FIRE BELL TRBL trouble condition will occur at the keypad. Refer to the diagram below for wiring information:
Note: Due to the fact that there is a constant loop current flowing through the Bell circuit for supervision, some sirens or
siren drivers may emit a low volume hum or buzz if the 2.2K EOL resistor is not installed. If Bell Supervision is not re-
quired, this can be eliminated by cutting resistor R207 which is located just to the right of the Burg Output Relay adja-
cent to the Burg Output terminals.

Fire Output Cadenced
The bell output must sound in a Temporal Pattern in the event of a fire alarm. Program all Fire Zones or events to acti-
vate the PulseBurg Output and enable Fire Output Cadence, by adding [ " 1 ] to location 2422. To enable the Fire Out-
put Cadenced using PCD3000, Version 3.29, select PulseBurg Output Cadenced on the Options screen.
24 Hour Standby Time
Beginning August 3, 1998, U. L. Residential Fire Alarm installations and Combination Residential Fire and Burglary
Alarm installations will require 24 hour standby time . This is accomplished by using a 12V 7 AH rechargeable battery
and limiting the maximum combined standby current to 150mA and the maximum alarm current to 650 mA.
Resound on Wireless Smoke Low Battery
If a wireless smoke detector low battery is detected, it must re-sound the trouble at the keypad every 4 hours when dis-
armed and every 12 hours when armed, until the condition is corrected. To enable Resound on Wireless Smoke Low
Battery , add a [ " 2 ] to location 2422. To enable the Resound on Wireless Smoke Low Battery using PCD3000, Ver-
sion 3.29, select Wireless Smoke Low Battery Resound on the Options screen.
