The Power Of Prayer

"Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to this Fig Tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' [see The Sea Of Galilee] and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." (Matthew 21:21-22)

"Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise [see our Christian Music page]. Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in The Name of The Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; The Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover over a multitude of sins. (James 5:13-20)

"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites [see Sadducees and Pharisees], for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, Who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. This, then, is how you should pray:

"Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be Your Name [see The Third of The Ten Commandments], Your kingdom come [seeThe Kingdom of God], Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one [see That Old Serpent]."

"For if you Forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. (Matthew 6:5-15)

"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
