Use Screens to Create Drama
Screening also allows you to use illustrations imaginatively. Using a fine screen to underprint an illustration, perhaps in color, can be an effective way to spice up a page of type. (Be careful to maintain proper contrast!) A giant letter or figure, properly screened, can be both dramatic and powerful. Likewise, the use of an enlarged screen, perhaps by blowing up a section of a halftone illustration, is an effective technique with its dramatic, bold dot size.
Using screens to create special effects like these can be very
dramatic. Make sure the screens are light enough so that type can
be easily read.
