Hydraulic Tank
SUBJECT: Hydraulic Tank Breather
Field experience has shown that in some applications hydraulic fluid may leak out through the breather filter.
To reduce this possibility, a new breather arrangement is now being used. The hydraulic fluid level has also
been lowered which necessitates a new hydraulic dipstick.
The following parts list, installation instructions and sketches can be used to alter units prior to the effective
serial number break.

1. Clean around hydraulic filter head, original breather filter and ad-joining area. Refer to Sketch  A
for instruction 1 through 7.
2. Remove filter head (Item 2) and filter (Item 3) from hydraulic tank.
3. Remove original breather and related parts from hydraulic tank.
4. Install male connector tube fitting (Item 4) into the threaded boss at the top of the tank where the
original breather filter was located.
5. Install tube (Item 5) up through the bottom fitting (Item 4). Use the large filter hole in the top of the
tank to position the tube as rhqwn in Sketcb  A . Use the nut and ferrule which is included with the
male connector tube fitting (Item 4) to secure the tube in place.
Note: Tube (Item 5) must be positioned up against the top, inside of the hydraulic tank (Item 1).
The tube must be oriented (from side to side) as shown in Sketch  A .
We reserve the right to make changes in design or add improvements without incur-
ring the obligation to make such changes in equipment previously manufactured.

6. Install nut (Item 6), ferrule (Item 7), and female tube fitting (Item 8) on tube (Item 5). Install original
breather filter (Item 9).
7. Reinstall filter (Item 3) and filter head (Item 2).
8. Remove original dipstick and add the new fill marks as shown on Sketch  B or install new dipstick
(Item 10) shown on Sketch  A .
9. Decrease fluid level to the new full mark on the hydraulic dipstick.

INTERCHANGEABILITY:
All new parts directly interchangeable. On units prior to effective serial number, the oil level must be re-
duced to accept the new dipstick, part number 380461. Do not use original dipstick, part number 355331,
on units on or after the effective serial number or on units prior to effective serial number if hydraulic fluid
level has been reduced.
