FS Gateway 1.0 Patch 01 ReadMe

This ReadMe file
describes the defects fixed in this patch and known issues.

Before installing this patch, it is strongly recommended that you
exit all FactorySuite® programs, including executable (.exe) files
and services.

This FS Gateway 1.0 Patch 01 build has been tested on:

·         
Windows NT 4.0 Workstation and Server SP 6 (only when a
DDE server is on the node along with FS Gateway, being accessed by a remote
client -- OPC or SuiteLink)

·         
Windows 2000 Professional, Server, and Advanced Server SP4


·         
Windows XP Professional SP2

·         
Windows 2003 Server Standard and Enterprise Edition

Microsoft Windows XP SP2 introduces several
security technologies including disabled NetDDE, enhanced Windows firewall, and
a reduced RPC attack surface. These enhancements affect the uses of NetDDE,
WWLogger, and SuiteLink protocols in DAServers.

If you plan to use FS Gateway on Windows XP SP2,
you should contact your local Wonderware Distributor or download the OS
Configuration Utility from the Wonderware Technical Support Web site at
www.wonderware.com/support/mmi. This utility opens specific ports that enable
NetDDE and adds Wonderware SuiteLink and Wonderware Logger to the firewall
exception list.

FS Gateway will not work properly on a Windows XP
SP2 computer if you do not run the OS Configuration Utility after its
installation.

Note: FS
Gateway can be installed on computers running any of the following foreign
operating systems: French, German, Japanese and Simplified Chinese.









Resolved Issues

The following defects were fixed for this patch release.

L00028783 FS Gateway DDE and SuiteLink objects do not accept
hyphens ("-") in the
Server Name option of its configuration editor.

 

L00029725 FS Gateway does not pass to the client values
marked with Uncertain Quality.

L00030259 FSGateway fails to write if it is installed on a
computer that has Industrial Application Server 2.0 also installed.
For DDE or SuiteLink clients, the write is processed, but the transaction times
out. For an OPC client asynchronous write, the write is processed, but the
transaction times out and the client logs an error. For an OPC client
synchronous write, the write is not processed, the transaction times out and
the client logs an error.

L00030371 Write confirmation is not being received (or
properly handled) when a write is done to an ArchestrA Galaxy property
reference. The write completes but the Demand Write
Transaction in the SMC maintains a pending state until the timeout period
expires. The transaction then enters an error state with the following write
result: "A message transaction with the device timed out".

L00031486  FS Gateway, under some
circumstances, fails to update a SuiteLink client if a second client is
connected.

 









Known Issues

L00028792 When a client (InTouch
or WWclient) toggles a bit via FS Gateway, the PLC register will receive a
1-0-1 bouncing effect. This behavior usually happens in under-sampling of the data
items. To workaround this issue, ensure that the scan rate of the data item is
at least twice as fast as the projected poke rate of the data item.

 

L00031963 If more than 60 OPC
groups are configured in FS Gateway, items from some groups will stop updating
with the following message generated in the Logger: “Unknown error 0xC0000005
caught at line 446 in ProtEngine.cpp
(in U:\DasToolkitDev\src\DASToolkit\PluginBase\PlugInDDESL\). while handling
updates in ProtTimerEvent."
