A hamartoma is a non-neoplastic mass of indigenous tissue. A choriostoma is an ectopically placed non-neoplastic mass of normal tissue. Notice that this histological section of a polyp is of normal small bowel tissue. It is not obvious that this is a polyp without seeing the gross specimen.
