1978 Honda CX500 Decal Location Guidelines
BDESIGNS has no control over your decal application and therefore takes no responsibility for any
losses or personal injury of any kind, incurred by you or any other party. If you are not experienced in
decal application and finishing processes we recommend you have your local body shop (preferably
motorcycle) apply the decals and paint.
General Guidelines
" All OEM Fuel Tank decals were clear coated over. This is necessary to prevent fuel spillage from
deteriorating the adhesive backing on the decals.
" The transfer material is a clear plastic which aids in visually aligning the overlap seams for the
decals. This material is not as flexible as paper transfer material but must be used in applications
where you have to see the overlap. It is important that the decal backing/transfer material be
trimmed safely, as close to the decals as possible before applying. This will allow greater forming
and flexibility. A professional should do this installation.
Fuel Tank Decal Location Guidelines
Please use the photos below for visual guidelines for decal placement. Before you start the project, document some sort of
dimensions that make sense to follow when re-installing. You should confirm the decal location of the Front decals by
running a dry test first. Do this by laying the decals down  with the backing on and transfer material on  in the area you
are going to install and then lay the tank badge HONDA overtop to make sure the position of the decal allows the badge to
properly cover the decal. Start by applying the shorter Bottom Front and Top Front decal portions first. See Figure 1 for
general location in relation to the Tank Badge mounting holes. Install the longer Bottom Rear and Top Rear decals so they
overlap each of the Front ones by approximately 6mm, as shown in Figure 2 below, while making sure the stripes are
properly aligned with each other.
