1 Choose the correct answer
1 A / B is the correct way to report this question: What's the answer?
A He wanted to know what the answer was.
B He wanted to know what was the answer.
2 A / B is the correct way to report this question: Are you OK?
A She wanted to know I was OK.
B She wanted to know if I was OK.
3 In reported speech the verbs often change into a tense further in the past / the past tense, eg:
`I'm coming.' He said he was coming.
`We've already seen it.' They told us they had already seen it.
4 When we report something we are talking about time now / then.
5 When we report something, we are talking about what people said / what people are saying now. Because of this, we usually change words to longer words / words further in the past eg:
