R: Hi, Harry.
H: Hello, Rose.
R: Would you like to go to the cinema this evening?
H: I'd love to, but I'm afraid I'm busy tonight. I have my guitar lesson on Wednesdays.
R: How about tomorrow night?
H: Yes, why not?

M: Hi, Pete.
P: Hi there, Maurice.
M: Why don't we have a game of soccer this afternoon?
P: OK, that's a good idea. What time shall we meet?
M: How about at three this afternoon?
P: OK. I've got to help my mum do some shopping at the supermarket, so I'll probably be a little late. I should be there at just after three.
M: Great. See you later.

K: Hello, Grace.
G: Oh, hello Kevin.
K: Would you like to go out somewhere tonight?
G: Umm, that's very kind of you Kevin, I'd love to, but I'm afraid I'm busy tonight.
K: We could go clubbing on Friday if you like.
G: I'd rather not. I'm not too keen on clubbing. And it's my dad's birthday on Friday.
K: What about next week? Do you have any time when you are free?
G: I'm really not sure. Anyway, I must go. See you!

B: I'm seeing Ivy on Thursday Jim, so I'll need the car.
J: But you know that I always have the car on Thursdays!
B: Sorry! Not this Thursday.
J: What time will you be back?
B: At around 2.30 I think. We're having lunch together. Why?
J: So I can have the car after 2.30 then?
B: Yes. Why do you need the car?
J: I'm taking my mum to the hospital in the afternoon.
B: What time is her appointment?
J: At 3.30.

K: John and Mike are never late. Where are they?
H: I don't know. They're usually always on time.
K: Shall we order our food anyway?
H: Yes, that's a good idea.
K: How about getting a couple of drinks first?
H: OK.
Track 10, Progress Test 2, Listening: Part 2
L: Could we have a table for two, please?
W: I'm afraid we're fully booked, sir.
T: Oh dear! What a pity! It's our wedding anniversary today. This is where we had our wedding reception.
W: Just a minute, madam. I'll see what I can do.
T: I told you to book, Larry!
L: I'm sorry. It's not usually busy here.
W: Would you like to follow me, please? I have a table for you by the window.
T: Oh, thank you very much.
W: Can I take your coats?
L+T: Yes. Thank you.
W: Would you like something to drink? Or would you like to see the menu first?
T: Could we have a bottle of your best champagne, please?
W: Certainly, madam. I'll get that for you now.
L: Would you like to have the set menu?
T: Certainly not!
W: Are you ready to order?
L: Yes. I'd like to have caviar for my starter, cassoulet for the main course, and strawberries and ice cream for dessert. And could I have a bottle of sparkling water as well, please?
W: Certainly, madam.
L: I'll have steak and French fries, and sorbet for dessert.
T: What a marvellous restaurant.
L: Yes. Well, happy anniversary, darling!
T: Happy anniversary. Cheers!
L: Cheers!
