Monster Drills- Drills to develop technique
I have called these `Monster Drills' as when coaching in the USA we used to change some of the terms to Monsters for really young kids. Game 1 for example could be avoid the crocodiles, Game 3 the crabs could become Monsters etc.
There are generally 2 ways of doing many of the games an `out' game where players are `out of the grid/game' or a points game eg they start with 5 points and lose points after each game the winner the one with the most. The advantage of points is no one stands around or feels they have lost.
If you do an out game follow 2 rules
keep the rest of the game really short
If (1) isn't possible give them another task- pass ball 100 times using one touch to `get back in' with a partner or as a task on its own.
As they get older we used points. I have to admit I've used some of these games with adults and they are a good laugh. The final game is a useful coaching tool for game situations.
