Track 10
Presenter: We're here today to talk about some of the things you teenagers have done … or haven't done. Our guests are Alison, who's 15, and Luke, who's 17.
Hi, Alison and Luke. We're going to talk about holidays and holiday activities today. Have you ever been to another country, Luke? I mean outside the United Kingdom.
Luke: Yes, of course! Most of my friends have travelled abroad, too. I've been to a few places in Europe … France, Italy and Spain. They were great but my favourite country is the USA. I've been to New York three times because my aunt and cousins live there. I've been to Chicago, too, my best friend lives there. I've never been to Los Angeles. I want to go there next.
Presenter: Sounds great! And what about you, Alison? Have you ever been to the USA?
Alison: No, I haven't been there yet but I've travelled a lot and I've been to Australia. It's really far away though, the flight took 24 hours! But it's a fantastic place. When I was there we did some really interesting things. I swam with dolphins and went whale-watching.
Presenter: How amazing! Have you ever swum with dolphins, Luke?
Luke: No, and I haven't been to Australia yet! I've been surfing and canoeing on the sea. I went camping near Chicago which was great fun but there were too many spiders! They got in all the food, which was disgusting!
Alison: There are lots of spiders and snakes and things in Australia, too. I didn't like that much. I've never been canoeing but we went surfing a lot in Australia.
Presenter: These are lucky teenagers! They've done so many things! Well, that's it for today …

Dad: What's the problem, Jim?
Jim: My new mobile phone is broken.
Dad: The one your uncle bought you for your birthday?
Jim: Yes!
Dad: What's the matter with it?
Jim: I don't know. I can't turn it on.
Dad: Let's see. Is the battery flat?
Jim: No, I've just charged it.
Dad: I think you should take it back to the shop.
Jim: Yes. And there's something wrong with my new camera!
Dad: Let's see. Yes, look, the screen is cracked. Let's take that back to the shop, too.
Jim: Can we go in the car?
Dad: Yes, we can, but it's really dirty. Will you help me clean it first?
Jim: OK!

Mum: What's the matter Angela?
Angela: I can't find my favourite black jeans and this new shirt is stained. Look!
Mum: Yes, I think it's coffee or tea. Shall I wash it for you?
Angela: Oh yes, please, Mum! Look, there's a button missing, too.
Mum: OK, I'll mend them. Why don't you wear these blue jeans?
Angela: I can't. The zip's broken.
Mum: I'll mend that, too.
Angela: Thanks, Mum. That's really kind.
Mum: If I do all this will you make me a cup of tea?
Angela: Of course I will!
