SHIP'S “CONSTANT” CALCULATION
m/s __________________
On __________ 19 __________ while lying at ______________________________________ in the port of ____________ and at ______________ hours, her Deadweight and changeable weights on board were checked as follows:
_____________________________________________________________________________________________
A. Verification of DW by draft and scale
1. Ship must be in light condition and trimmed to EVEN KEEL and without any HEEL as far as possible.
2. Drafts are to be read precisely from port and Stb. sides in smooth water. Midship drafts are to be obtained from measuring the freeboard by tape rule if there is no corresponding marks for reading.
3. Draft correction to 1025 S.G. of s.w. to be made according to:
D x d D = displacement at mean of mean draft
T or CM x 1000 d = difference of S.G. betw. local water and 1025 of sea water.
T or CM = T.P.I. or T.P.CM. at the mean draft.
4. Displacement correction ( type “Chopin” or similar ) due to trimmed Aft should be made approx. by deducting following figures if there is no proper information:
Trimming aft 3' ______________ deduction tons
“ “ 5' ______________ “ “
“ “ 7' ______________ “ “
“ “ 9' ______________ “ “
5. Boilers & condenser should be filled up to their normal working condition, otherwise correction of lightship-weight to be made.

B. Estimation of CHANGEABLE WEIGHTS on board
1. ` Changeable weights ` means those articles of a temporary or emergency nature, which are kept on board for the time being; such as, ballast and fresh water, bunker oils, dunnage material, or grain of which must be pracisely calculated according to respective specific gravity.
2. The quantity of lub.oil, galley oil, crew provisions & c.: normally required for a whole voyage, and the inventories, materials and spares of all departments stipulated by the norm are not to be considered as `Changeable Weight', but all extras, if any, must be considered as such.
3. The so-called dead oils, dead ballast or bilge water in the tanks, dead cargo residues in the holds, which are really impossible at the time to be pumped out or discharged, not to be considered as changeable weight, but must be checked specially and a protocol or remarks must be made and attached to this calculation.
4. All unnecessary weights must be discharged as far as possible before the estimation and reasons must be given if this cannot be done.
