A Career of an Idol
There are people, who are poor throughout their whole life or who gain money and power gradually, year
by year. But there are individuals who have the luck or the talent which allows them to blossom suddenly
like a spring flower and to become well known by almost every man in the world. One of such celebrities
is Michael Jackson.
Most of the young people are familiar with the history of Michael's life. He was born in a poor, black
family together with five other children. He had very difficult childhood, because although his mother was
a kind-hearted woman, his father treated him, as well as his brothers and sisters, in an extremely hard
way. He forced young Michael, La Toya, Janet and others to sing and dance against their will. Yet, the
children had really great talents and fulfilled their father's dream. First, they brought the group
`Jacksons' into being and started recording. They soon became famous in the States, and young Michael
was most often the leading vocalist of the band. Not long after their greatest achievements as a group,
Michael parted from the Jacksons and began solo career which was to bring him even greater
satisfaction. Michael recorded Thriller and Bad albums which immediately reached the top positions on all
pop-music charts. But the singer changed - he started to think of himself as an idol and, definitely,
acted like one. The artist surrounded himself with bodyguards, dwelled in a seclusion and decided to
change the colour of his skin. He also became ill-concerned with his health and even was accused of
abusing children.
Michael Jackson had a typical Hollywood career: he began in a poor family and now his richness is
overwhelming. But does it always have to be this way: once rich, you become extravagant and...
abnormal?
