With tape cassettes becoming a thing of the past and the popularity of CDs decreasing each year, the way we buy music is rapidly evolving.
The latest development in music download technology was revealed when a mobile phone company announced it's plans to release the first "mobile only" pop single next month. The debut track by an Anglo-Italian five-piece band known as Planet Funk will only be available to those who own a third-generation mobile phone, and is the latest attempt by record companies and bands to revive the flagging singles market.
The mobile phone company 3 will release 'Stop Me' to 3.5 million customers on it's network. This comes after 'Crazy' by Gnarls Barkley made pop music history when it reached the number one spot by download sales alone. Around a fifth of these sales were through mobile phone downloads.
