Roman Theatre

Theatre during the Roman Empire was very different from today. Very often the theatre audience was not interested in the subject matter of the play often talking amongst themselves until there was some amazing or violent spectacle to be seen on the stage. The actors wearing decorative masks and costumes had to dance and mime to attract the audiences’ attention.
