Part 1
You must answer this question.
1 You are the secretary of your local International Friendship Club, which draws its membership from a variety of foreigners working or studying in your area, and their families. The club organises a number of cultural and social events each month. You are responsible for booking these events and letting the club members know what is planned.
Read the following annotated leaflet about a theatre production, and the messages from the club treasurer and another member below and then, using the information given, write the letters and the note listed below.
15 have said they want to come. I think we can pay on the night, will you check when you book? Also whether we'll get our discount if we do that? But must confirm booking in writing with the London office now. And can you find out what time they finish, it's quite long I think and we need to be able to warn people they'll be late home. The Andersens are still arguing about bringing their kids (see attached). Can you write and explain to them? Anybody else would see it was totally unsuitable for little ones!! Don't offend them though - we don't want them to leave the club. Remind them about all the kids' events we have. Good luck! Sam |
I am most annoyed that the English club refuses to obtain tickets for my children for the visit to see Macbeth. Their English is at least as good as that of many older members of the club, and I'm sure they'd enjoy all the special effects even if they couldn't follow the story very well. I hope the committee will see fit to change their minds about this. Yours, H. Andersen |
Now write
(a) a letter to Acme Agents about 100 words)
(b) a letter to Mr and Mrs Andersen (about 100 words)
(c) a note to Sam (about 50 words)
You must set them out in an appropriate way but it is not necessary to include addresses.
