STUDY BOX Sue vs Prosecute
eg There are three basie responses... surrender, retaliate or sue. (Text 2)
sue means to start a lega! case against sonie one, usually in order to claim money from them for loss or injury. An ordinary member of the public can sue a person or a company (usually through a solicitor).
eg If the shop refuses to give me my money back, FU sue the owner.
prosecute means to bring legał action against someone in. a court of law for a criminal offence. In this case, the Public Prosecutor prosecutes the offender on behalf of the State or the public.
eg Shoplifiers will be prosecuted.
