Row 1 (right side):

Ch 1, hdc in next 31 hdc. Ch 1, turn, leaving rem hdc unworked.

Row 2:

Hdc in first hdc; * ch 1, sk next hdc, hdc in next hdc; rep from * U timos moro—15 ch-1 sps. Ch 1. turn.

Row 3:

Hdc in first hdc and in next ch-1 sp; 2 hdc in each of next 14 ch-1 sps; hdc in ncxl hdc—31 hdc. Ch 1, turn. Rows 4 through 11:

Rep Rows 2 and 3 four times morę.

Row 12:

Rep Row 2.

Edging:

Sc in each hdc and in each ch-1 sp to last hdc; 3 sc in last hdc; working across side of flap in ends of rows, sc cvenly spaccd along side so that piece lays fiat; working across front in unused sts of last row worked on body, sc in each st; working across side of flap in ends of rows, sc evenly spaced along side so that piece lays fiat; 2 sc in same hdc as first sc madę; join in first sc.

Finish off and weave in ends.

Bottom Flap:

Hołd piece with right side of front facing you and beg ch at top; with both strands held tog, join in 7th unused Ip of beg ch from joining.

Row 1 (right side):

Ch 1, sc in same Ip as joining; working in unused Ips of beg ch, sc in ncxt 30 Ips—31 sc. Ch 1, turn, leaving rem Ips unworked.

Row 2:

Scin each sc. Ch 1,iurn.

Rows 3 through 5:

Rep Row 2. At end of Row 5, do not ch 1. Finish off. Ieaving an 18* end for sewing.

Strap

With both strands held tog. and leaving a 12* end for sewing, ch 170; sl st in each ch.

Finish off leaving a 12* end.

Finishing Step 1:

Hołd purse with right side facing you and beg ch at top; with tapestry needle and long end, working through ends of sc rows and sc on Row 5 of bottom flap, sew bottom to corresponding unused Ips of beg ch of body.

Step 2:

With tapestry needle and long ends, sew strap to opposite sides of purse on wrong side of Row 20 of body.

Step 3:

With sewing needle and thread, center decorative trim on top flap and tack into place.
