Figs 85, 86, 87 and 88 are my rather theatrical ideas of envy, but they might also be interpreted as suspi-cion, fear, anger or hate. These emotions are com-plex and related — no doubt one who is extremely envious may be suspicious of the object of the envy, may hate him and be filled with anger. In such cases one must try to emphasise the signiticance of the facial expression by the use of body language, per-haps a clenched fist clutching some object to the body like Shylock, Fig. 88.
