Yarn: Approx. 550 ę (19Vioz) smooth, mercerized cotton yarn approx. 115 m (126'/2 yds)/50 g (l*»ox)

Basic pattern: W >rk the openwork pattern on size 5 needles. Only the RS rows are shown; on WS rows, purl all st and vo.

Gauge: 20 st and 30 row- - 4" x 4" Ribbing: Alternately kl.pl on sizc 3 needles.

Back: Cast on 110 st and work ribbing for W* sturting on WS. In lasr row on WS, inc 8 sr evcnlv diśtrihutcd over row (118 sl).

Then work in basie pattern as folkiws: sc!v st, tirsi 't ol chart, pattern repeat of 16 sr 7x. lasr st of chart. selv <r. Whcn the piece is 24 V long, bind off rhe center 28 sr. then 3 st lx and 2 st lx, cvcry other row, on Kub sides, for the nccklinc.

Whcn the piece is 25' long, bind off the shouldcr sntches.

Front: Work like thc back. but when thc piece is 2444" long. bind olt thc center 16 «r. then 3 sr lx, 2 st 2x, and 1 si 4x, cvery other row, on borh sides, for the neckline.

Sleevcs (sec inereasing in openwork partems, page 181): C’asr on 52 st and work in ribbing for 1 ^lA”. In thc last tow on WS. mc 9 st cvenly distributed over thc row (61 >f). Then work in basie partem as foliowy. selv st, st 12 to 16 of rhe pattern repeat, pattern repeat of 16 st 3x. st 1 to 6 of pattern repeat,

For the slanted edges of thc sleevc, on both sides, inc 1 st alrernately evcry fourth and <ixth row I2x, then inc 1 st every fourth row 16x (117 st).

Whcn the piece is 18" long, bind off aII st stmight across = 4 parrem repeats (128 rows).

Finishing: Sew rhe shouldcr seams. sew on the siecees. then sew the side seams and sleeve seams.

For thc ncckband, pick up 116 st on a short size 3 circular necdle, and Work in round ribbing for 1 U". Bind off normally or in kirchener rib.
