“Dear Betsy," wrote the editors of McCall’s, “if you’re ever in New York, why don’t you drop in and say hello to all of us? So many things liave been happening sińce your last visit. Our kitchens are morę fun than ever, and the girls wear aprons striped like candy canes, all red and while. We promise a simply delicious treat for you to eat. Then you’ll see the Beauty Glinie. It’s all blue and as pretty as a picture. Maybe you can have your hair shampooed there and get a brand-new hairdo. And you’ll see the Art Department, and the Pattern Department, and euerytliing!” Betsy wrote that she would drop in, and she ditl, and here are some of the things she saw that day:
Mmm! Wonderful smells in the kitchen! “We’re testing the recipes that go into McCalPs,” the Food Editor told Betsy. “Every one musi be just exactly right if it’s to be published. Here, do taste this coconut piel" Betsy did. “Il's just exactly R1GHT,” she cried

The Beauty Glinie gave Betsy a perfumed shampoo and a lovely high hairdo. "Don’t 1 look like a picture in McCalPs?” she asked the Art Editor, across the hall. "And you are!” he said. In the Pattern Department, she saw the dearest dress bcing madę. Did she get it? Yes!
