Cutting the pattem
Like a poncho, the shirt is madę from a single piece of yardage. The upper part of the shirt is lined.
The pattem is drawn to scalę onto a piece of tracing paper with the aid of the 1:10 pattem found at the back of the booklet. The panem pieces are then cut and transferred onto; the fabric, where they are tacked to the selvages as shown in the diagram
It should be noted that the selyages are of vital importance for the fit of the shirt. ' ’
The shirt is then cut out, using the outermost, solid lines of the patiem.

In generał, a seam allowance ofl cm. Is used. For the sleeves, however, an allowance of 2 cm. is used at the top and bottom, and an allowancp of 4
cm. is used below for the tails. ?

'Where a fiat fell seam is usćd, the two pieces should have seam alloftances of 1 cm and 2 cm. respectiyely, as shown in the pattem diagram at the back as weil as in the sewing instructions for the sleeves. ;
As scen in the panem diagram, the seam allowances for the gussets are 1 cm along the sleeve and 2 cm along the body. |
