Melange represents many of my favorite things—musie, rainbows, needlework (of course), flowers, stars, balloons, vibrant colors, hearts, butterfiies and, especially, cats.

I hope they are some of your favorite things, too.

Materials Required: In addition to the floss listed in the symbol color key (notę backstitching colors as well), you will need Kreinik 002BF Gold and 042BF Confetti Fuschia blending filaments and 001C Silver cord; DMC white #8 pearl cotton; and Mili Hill frosted cranberry beads #62032.

General Instructions:

Working from the center of the design outward and referring to color photo as needed, stitch in the following order:

1.    Stitch the cat first per color key (grey square is center).

2.    Stitch the inside row of four-sided stitches (A) with the leviathan stitches (B) in the comers with one strand #8 white pearl cotton.

3.    Stitch the large double-framed eyelets (C) in all four comers with one strand #8 white pearl cotton. On each eyelet, after stitching all the legs, go into center and make a cross stitch over 4 threads (A, B, C, D on stitch diagram). Make two stitches over AB and two over CD pulling tightly to open up. When traveling to the center to make this cross stitch, run thread under pearl cotton on back so it will not show through open portions of stitch.

4.    Stitch the reed stitch (see chart & stitch diagram) on all four sides with one strand #8 white pearl cotton. (continued)
