Ordinal numbers (mimeros ordinales) are used to assign a place in a series. They may function as adjectives or as pronouns. The following are the ordinal numbers used in Spanish:

Ordinal numbers in Spanish are used in the following ways:

Ordinal numbers in English are often printed with -th following the number as in: 5th. Spanish printed equivalents are: 1°, 2a, 3er, 5ta, etc. Notę that the suffixes of the abbreviations reflect the finał letter or letters of the ordinal number written out.
