Abstract
This paper presents an introduction to statistical experimental design models where the factors in the experiment are random; that is, the factor levels are chosen at random from some population of levels. These models arise freąuently in practice. One common area of application is measurement system capability studies.
We present a review of methods for the analysis of those experiments. We also provide an example illustrating the application of a random model to a complex gauge capability study.
