EDGING A

I used no. 50 DMC Cordonnet Special cotton for this edging. The finer the thread used, of course, the morę delicate the edging will be. I once madę a version of this design in 100 Cordonnet Special for a handkerchief, and it won the non-bobbin section at a lace day in Penzance.

The first row needs only a shuttle thread, but in the second row the bali thread should be wound on to a second shuttle, as it will be needed for working the 5 ds p 5 ds ring which joins it to the first row. Try to get the single thread joining the rings in the first row an even 3 mm. in length - it is obvious from the photograph that I didn’t do so at the corner!
