Prohibited in Judo contest are these acts: The Scissors (wrestling techniąue of sąueezing the head, neck or abdomen directly with the legs); dragging the opponent into Lying position without attempting a definite technique; grabbing opponeat's Leg from a standing position in order to shift into Lying position; when a contestant clings from behind, for the opponent thus caught to fali backwards on purpose; gripping of bottom of sLeeves or trousers by putting the hand into sleeve or trouser leg; ANY ACT WHICH IS LIABLE TO CAUSE INJURY OR NEED-LESS PAIN; deliberate avoidance of contact for stalling; holds which are stalls to prevent action; foot or hand placed directly into the face of the opponent; to go out of the Contest area or push opponent out without purpose; holding lapel and sleeve on same side of opponent's jacket; holding opponent's belt with rigid, stretched arm; to talk to opponent or make remarks or gestures deroga-tory to him; to untie and re-tie belt without permi-ssion of Referee; any act which the Referee shall deem not to be in the spirit of Judo.

Referee may declare a loser by yiolation of any of the above mentioned rules or if he deems a contestant to be in contempt of the spirit of good sport smanship.

Situations not covered by the rules are decided by the Referee. If the contest has Judges as well, the Referee decides in special situations in consultation with the Judges.

This digest of rules is given to help you practice in a fashion which is in harmony with the generally accepted modę of Judo sport competition.
