Peter Eisenman
Max Reinhardt Haus
Berlin, Germany, 1995 (project)
This project. which remains un-built, would clearly violate the height restrictions that exist in Berlin, but the architect wanted to create a "symbolic" structure. The result of Computer "morphing" of the shape of a Móbius strip, this connected double tower has a "crystalline" aspect that the architea willingly relates to a difficult episode of German history. Eisenman insists that architecture should not make its users feel comfortable, and indeed a good part of his ceuvre remains in the State of plans.
