Shoes and Pattens
86 Main part of a drawstring ankle-shoe (early/mid 12th-century), with a binding-stitch along the upper edge and edge/flesh butt seams at the side of the foot. The shoe originally had two inserts - a triangular insert at the side of the foot, and a smali rectangular insert at the throat held in place by an edge/flesh butt seam. Tunnel-stitching marks the position of a semicircular heel-stiffener (missing). The grain side (left) shows an embroidered vamp stripe. Scalę 1:3.
