Make a...mitred corner cushion

This cushion will make a great addition to a pretty bedroom

Step 1

TACK your cream ric rac in place on your cushion front, creating a 25x25cm square around your design. Cut four stnps of your linen fabric each measuring 12x42cm. With the design face up, place one strip centrally along the top edge of the design. Stitch in place, through the centre of the ric rac.

Step 2

STITCH the remaining three strips in the same way, taking care not to stitch beyond the design area or into the other fabric strips. Open and press the seams fiat. With stitching face down, fold one border strip over the other to lie at right angles. Draw a diagonal linę from the inner comer outwards.

the second piece in the same way as you did on the first. This will give you a stitching linę marked on both pieces of border fabric. Repeat this process with the remaining three corners of your cushion.

Step 4

WITH the right sides of the border fabric together, match up the two diagonal lines. Pin and stitch along the linę. Repeat to the remaining corners. Trim any extra fabric. With right sides in, pin and machinę stitch your front and back pieces together. Leave an opening for turning, turn right side out and fili with stuff ing.

Stitch just one or two flowers for a pretty gift

Step 1

ON THE reverse of your stitching, use a pencil or fading fabric pen to draw out a heart shape. Cut out, Icm beyond the drawing linę. Cut a second piece of linen to exactly the same shape.

Step 2

WITH right sides in, sew all the way around the shape, sandwiching a twine loop at the top. Leave an opening for turning, turn right side out. fili with stuffing and slip stitch the opening closed.
