1. Are you concerned about your generał health?
At 84 yrs, you betcha! I am trying to make 100!
2. If yes, what things are you concerned about?
I was told I was a TYPE 2 diabetic as my blood sugar was 140 mg/dl in 2003. (Since then the Standard was lowered to 130.) Controlling the number is a matter of DIET and EXERCISE. The Doc had me take a smali dose of Glyburide daily. This signals my pancreas to release morę insulin, which Controls carbs and stuff. I am on a
240-gram daily diet, which I stay close to. I don't worry about calories. I try to walk and7or do the YMCA oldie class 3 times a week. I do a blood test every morning and chart and list my blood pressure also. I stay below 140 mg/dl pretty well, and never let it get below 80. The Doc took me off the Glyburide last Oct. and I have stayed pretty much between 120 and 140 sińce. I lost 20 pounds the first month back in '03 and stay betweenl60 andl68lbs. Doc said if I get in any birthday cake-eating contests with you girls it is OK and I should try hard to win! He is a good guy (He has 2 daughters and knows who is really in charge!). Also as an US Army vet, I get complete blood tests twice a year and exams too.
3. Do you watch what you eat?
Yes, Grandma is a wonderful cook and we work at eating, not watching our food! (Sorry, I couldn’t resistl). Very balanced meals.
4. If you do, what are your reasons for watching what you eat?
We don't want to be fat, my diabetes and the 100 year objective to watch you glamour girls as you get old too.
