Storage: memory is first stored in short-term memory (STM), a stoge thot lasts for only 20 seconds. Most people can remember about 7 items in their SI M. Long-term memory (LTM) is the permanent storoge of STMs. Working memory is dynamie STM, ond involves o combination of sensory informotion to form concrete LTMs.
Encoding is the process by which our brain receives sensory information to be formed into memories. You can encode information about what you see and whatyou hear. This information gets stored for 20 seconds in your short-term memory, where it will be discarded if it's not important, or if it is important, it will get Consolidated into long-term memory.
