Lorrha did-n’t play their Co Semi finał against Drom Inch until October 7, while Moycarkey Borris beat Cap-pawhite (3-14 to 2-12) in a replay of their semi finał, also in Nenagh. on the same datę. Lorrha won their gamę by 2-7 to 0-6, but sustained several injuries during that competitive outing. It was a major concem to a club. which was appearing in its first decider sińce 1966 and still seeking their initial tide, that the Co Finał was fixed for a week later.
A speciał meeting of the Co Board was hełd, on the Tuesday night before the original finał datę. October 14. to consider Lorrhas płea for a post-ponemenL The club claimed that many of their players were injured. The list included John Mcln-tyre.Donal Donoghue.Pat Kelly, Kieran Hough.John Shelly Joe Kennedy. Eamonn Maher and Willie Foga-rty. The postponement request was rejected, but Lorrha subsequendy hełd a club meeting on October 11 and advised the Co Board łatę that night, of their inability to field a team. on the Sunday. A deci-sion was taken to postpone the gamę, although the Minor gamę went ahead. Roscrea, captained by Paul Delaney and with Liam Carson scoring 5-1, won die dtle on a 7-10 to 2-5 scoreline.
Another meedng of the Co Board was hełd on October 15 and by agreement with the two clubs, the fixtures committee rescheduled the gamę for October 21. On the revised finał datę. all of the injured Lorrha players except Donal Donoghue lined out, although not all were fully fiL Donal came on as a sub.but wasn't 100%.The match programme carried the datę of October 14 on its front cover and cost £ I.
Playing against the breeze in the first half, Lorrha started well. going five points elear 0-6 to 0-1 after 21 minutes.They reached half time leading by 0-6 to 0-4.The North champions held firm early in the second half and ten minutes in, they were still two points to the good. when Tom Doran madę another won-derful save from Willie Fogarty. to keep the red and yellow - champions of 1982 - in the gamę. The turning point was Ned Siat-terys goal in the I4th minutę, which !evelled the gamę, 0-8 to I -5. Four minutes later. John Flanagan pounced on an error and scored a second goal.
