This brush library for Photoshop was created by Cher Threinen-Pendarvis, author of The Painter 6 Wow! Book, coming from Peachpit Press in February, 2000. This award-winning book has been completely updated for Painter 6, and features many new tips and techniques, an expanded "Painting with Brushes" chapter, a brand-new chapter, "Working with Type," and an expanded "Web Graphics" chapter.

Cher's custom brush library works best when used in conjunction with a pressure-sensitive tablet. If you have a pressure-sensitive tablet, set up the Brush (or Airbrush) Options palette to paint with more sensitivity: Open the Options palette by double-clicking the tool. (For instance, to open the Options for the airbrush, double-click the airbrush tool). To make your brush size change with pressure, check the Stylus: Size checkbox. If you want the opacity of the brushstrokes to vary with pressure, check the Opacity checkbox.
Here are some tips for using the brushes:
Ą To load the brushes in Photoshop's Brushes palette so you can use them, open the Brushes palette (Window, Show Brushes) and choose Load Brushes from the palette's pop-out menu.
Ą The large "Hairy"-looking brush tip (top row, second from left) works best when used with the airbrush tool. If you see a pixelated edge, double-click the brush tip in the Brushes palette and reduce the Spacing a little bit. The smaller versions are also designed to be used with the airbrush.
Ą Painting modes affect how the brushstrokes look and interact with an existing image: Try these brushes in all modes Ń especially Normal, Multiply, and Screen painting modes, set in the painting tool's Options palette.
Ą For a pixel-dust look, experiment with Dissolve mode. To vary the color of your pixel dust when using a stylus and pressure-sensitive tablet, use the Dissolve mode and check the Stylus: Color check box.
