CATALOG DESCRIPTION:
Examines current best practices and theory for the development of content and applications across different platforms, Systems, and devices emphasizing responsive design and frameworks. 3 credits
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Covers the fiindamental building blocks of building modern websites and applications using HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript. Current issues in web and mobile development including but not limited to; responsive design, frameworks, content management systems, codę libraries, and usability will be discussed and analyzed. The fundamentals of web traffic and user-engagement are covered including the latest changes/updates in SEO and web marketing. The theory and principles of user-interface design and information architecture and the web project timeline including managing team and client relationships.
PREREQUISITES:
Graduate Standing, Current MLIS IT Concentration Student, Current MSIST Student
OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
1. Recognize and critically examine different content and marketing strategies and their effectiveness.
2. Build user-friendly responsive websites and applications using frameworks and content management systems.
3. Critically evaluate and analyze the theory behind marketing on the web and what drives traffic and user engagement.
4. Analyze and critically evaluate the different roles in a web project and how to manage relationships between clients and team members.
5. Analyze and implement design and development Solutions for cultural and language differences, those using assistive technologies, and vision or hearing impairment.
