REYERSE ENGINEERING - PISTON SCANNING
Abstract
The aim of this work was to use reverse engineering to create a CAD model car piston. Model was used to study the propagation of the mixture in the combustion chamber. We used a 3D scanner and the coordinate measuring machinę (CMM), where we checked the resulting model from the scan. Our work we began with the preparation of the reality model to be scanned (we painted surface with white paint). Then we create concepts scan and we started working. The result was scanning point cloud, which then gave up working in SolidWorks. We started by creating a grid of triangles, then the surface model and eventually created a solid model. At the end we compared reality model with CAD model on the CMM.
