The Institute of Journalism of Warsaw University is the largest centre which offers professional education to over 1700 students. Ils six different courses of studics in journalism and mass communication include:
- Full-time (5 years) graduate studies in journalism
- Evening graduate studies in journalism
- Extra-mural graduate studies in journalism
- Complemenlary graduate studies in journalism
- Full-time postgraduate studies in journalism
- Extra-mural postgraduate studies in journalism.
Research activities cover various aspects of the media and the systems of mass communication. The main areas of research concern: the press and copyright law in Poland and other countries, the evolution of the Polish system of mass information, advertising and public relations, forcign systems of mass information, the theory of communication in Poland and elsewhere, the history of Polish mass media, the evolulion of media, the language of mass communication and the media.
The Institute allows for the development of practical skills within the following areas:
- press
- radio
- lelevision
- press agencies
- medial marketing and PR
- online journalism.
