Track 4: Listening Test for Unit 2
[James (40s, very soft scottish accent); Kristy (20s, American); Bob (70s, British)]
James: I'm a travel photographer, and I'm lucky that I've been to many different places around the world. But for me the most beautiful place, I think, is probably the west coast of Scotland. The mountains and the beaches are fantastic, and the sea is so clean. The water's cold, but great for swimming. It's such a peaceful place. When the weather is good, it's just fabulous.
Kristy: I live in one of the most crowded cities in the world - New York. It's full of high-rise buildings, and the shops and museums are famous. It's a very exciting city, full of people night and day - it's a city that never sleeps. But it's so noisy and polluted. Sometimes I think there are too many people, cars, taxis … but I can't live anywhere else. It's a crazy place, but I love it!
Bob: This is the place where I was born, and where I have lived all my life. I went to the city once - in 1964 - to visit my sister, but I didn't like it. It was too noisy and dirty. I was only there for three days, but I couldn't wait to get home here. Some people might think this village is too small, or boring, but to me it's the loveliest place on earth. It's home.
