VISIT IN POLAND:

I have to say that I enjoy my visit in Poland. It is the first time that I visit Poland and I am very surprised that there are so many places to see here. I have already seen Krakow and Warsaw and I am still looking forward to visiting Zakopane. I like Krakow. It is a very beautiful city and there are a lot of things to see. But Warsaw is not very interesting for me. It is like any other European city. During my visit here I have met many Polish people. They are very nice and polite. Polish people are not very nationalistic and they generally like tourists, therefore they were very helpful. Nevertheless when I spoke with some of them, they told me that they do not like German tourists. Although many Polish people do not speak English language I did not have many problems to communicate, because a lot of young Polish people speak more than one language. Food in Poland is very good. I was very afraid of my stomach before I come here. I thought that I would not like Polish food. But I was wrong. I like Polish food very much. Almost every day I try something now to eat and with every day Polish food gets better and better. I was also very surprised when I saw Mc' Donald and KFC restaurants, but I have not gone to them yet, simply because I did not have to, because Polish food is very good. Sport in Poland is not very popular comparing to England for example. There are not many sport centers and sport facilities in Poland are in a very poor condition. I think that Polish government will have to do something to change this situation. Education in Poland is on a very high level. Polish student are said to be one of the best in Europe. Nevertheless what I do not like about Polish education system is that Polish students have to learn almost every thing by heart. Poland is a very interesting country. It is a very good place to visit. Polish people are very friendly and food is very good, too. There are also a lot of things to see here, I have already visited some of the Polish attractions and tomorrow I am planning to go to Zakopane, which is said to be one of the most interesting places in Poland.

SUMMER HOLIDAYS:

The first question that comes to my mind when I think about my summer holidays is if I like them?
I think that my summer holidays were really great, because I met many new friends who I really like. Therefore I can say that the past summer holidays were one of the best in my life. Let me tell you about my holidays.
At first I thought that these holidays would be boring and I fought that I'd be looking forward to going to school. I was wrong. I didn't want to go to school at the end of the summer. Nevertheless the beginning of this summer was boring, but I don't want to talk about it.
My holidays have started to look good since the moment when I went to an English Camp. It was the best camp that I have ever had. I met many new people there who have become my friends. During this camp I was doing with them many wild things that I'm going to remember for a long time.
It is said that life is brutal and therefore nothing is perfect. On this camp, there was one boy whom I really didn't like, because he was very boring. We used to call him “special” because he was using this word very often. This “special” person had a crash on me and he was annoying. So I had to tell him what I really thought about him and he finally left me alone.
After the camp I thought that I would lose my new friends, because friendships from camps are said to be not very strong. But to my surprise I was wrong again, because I used to meet with my new friends almost every day. Two weeks after the end of the English Camp we went to the seaside and I had a great time there.
This is how my holidays have looked like. I'm still meeting with my friends from the camp and now I'm looking forward to the next meeting which will be this Friday.

ABOUT MY FAVOURITE MUSICAN:

Her name is Avril Lavigne. She was borni in Canada 20 years ago. She was like many other kids: she was playing, going to school, watching TV, so why she is the most popular girl in the USA?
When she was seven years old, she started playing guitar. She olso plays in a choir. She alweys says: "I love music. I feel very good, when I sing. That is what makes me happy".
When she was ten she played in a hockey team. She loves sports. But that is not all. She's also crazy about fishing. She loves catching big fish.
When she was seventeen she moved to the USA. Her mother stayed in Canada. Avril says: "I love my mum. But I must think about myself". Her first hit was a "Complicated". Her last album was called: "Under My Skin". The album was sold in 3 milion copies. She got an award of the "Best New Artist" by MTV.
She alweys wears what she wants: old jeans and shirt.
I think Avril is the most natural and the most confident girl in the USA. And she is the best singer all over the world. I think I'll alweys like her.

ABOUT MYSELF:

My name is X. I was born on the 19th of March 1983. Now I am seventeen years old. I`m Polish. I was born and brought up in Poland. My native city is B. Now let me tell you something about my appearance and character. I have dark hair and dark brown eyes. I`m medium hight. I like to wear casual clothes. I`m very tactfull, sensitive, emotional, stable, witty, generous and kind-hearted. At the moment I`m a student of a third year at the Technical High School. I have a lot of favorite subjects such as Polish, Biology and Computer Studies. But the most favorite subjects of mine are English and Russian. I`m just fond of foreign languages. Having good knowledge of English and Russian, I can easily talk to foreigners and understand what they are talking about. I have a family. It isn`t very large. It consists of seven people. My father is dead, my mother is 48 years old. She works in the farm, she looks after cows. I also have three brothers, Krzysiek, Marek and Darek. Krzysiek is a buldier, Marek is a carpenter and Darek works at the post office. I love my family very much.

MY IDEAL HOME:

I think that the ideal home will be beautiful. It was be very big. My house will be made of wood and glass. In wooden walls and in the roof there will be very big windows. My house will have ground floor, afirst floor and garret. In my beautiful, light kitchen there will be a round table, cupboards and kitchen utensiles. I would like to have a large, but dark living room. There will be a fireplace, a rocking - chair and a lot of shelves with books.
I will have a big bathroom with a shower and bath. Of course in my house there will be bedroom. Everything in the bedroom will be white and sky blue: a bed, a wardrobe, a carpet and curtains. The house which I can see in my dreams smells of exotic flowers. There is a lot of plants, pictures, ornaments and souvenirs in this house. There are my friends drinking tea. I can hear my dog bark from garden and Music Instractor s music. I hope that I will be able to live in such house which I have described.
I want, that my house will have eight rooms. In one of them will be television set sixtieth inch. and cinema house firms Pionieer s. following room will be room of plays and games, will be here: billiards, table to ping-pong. I would like that in my house sounded music all the time. Outside will be big garden, basin with huge chuteI would like driving to my toilet in Honda CBR 929. In the future a will have a computer performance class. But home is not only a building. It is also the family. My ideal family would be as big as ideal building, which I have described.

IS HOOBBY IMPORTANT IN OUR LIFE:

People of all the world have many important things to do.We always wake up in the morning and everybody do something other in our lives. Some people go to work or school. Some of them stay at home and they have to do the housework. They must cook dinner, make the beds, empty the bin, beat the carpets or do the shopping for all family.
But, when we finished the hard week, we canrelax because the rest is necessary in our lives. When we aren`t tired we can forget about our problems and return to work with bigger vigor, enthusiasm and of course strength. We dream about the moment when we can leave our narrow flats and change something in our boring live. So, we have all kinds of hobbies. The hobbies can be very different because we have not the some passions, interests and potential. Some people have very dangerouse and risky hobbies but very exciting.Boxing, hockey, judo, sailing and climbing mountains are very tiring and quickly sports. When I was younger I was interested in a stamp`s collection and volleyball. But, it was a long time ago. Now, I dream about travelling to beautiful and very interesting countries. When I would have an opportunity to travelling I`ll go with my husband and my son to Ireland, France or Egipt. I`m interested in history and habits of the old civilizations too. I like learning about the all mistic and remarkable places. I have the other hobby, too. It`s photographing. I love taking photographs my sweet baby and I have six albums.I`m interested in what hobby my son will have?
Maybe diving or swimming. I don`t know... we`ll wait, we`ll see.

SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR TOWN:

Gdynia is a modern city located at the Baltic coast. It was established in 1926 and merchant port played a significant role in its development. Prior to this event Gdynia had been a fisherman village of little importance. Today it has a population of around 500.000 inhabitants and there is a huge inflow of new people into the town. The port is one of the biggest and most modern ports in the Baltic Sea. The most beautiful part of Gdynia is waterfront. There is a spacious boulevard along the sea, where tourists as well as locals can walk and rest in numerous small pubs and cafes. However, it is the center which speaks volumes of Gdynia`s character, people and culture. The most representative street is Świętojańska where nearly everything can be bought starting from socks up to property. At the northern end of the boulevard there is Kościuszko square with Maritime museum, multi-cinema, fun park and restaurants. There, are also situated two historical ships, destroyer BLYSKAWICA and nearly 100 years old frigate DAR POMORZA. I think that Gdynia has set high goals for other towns in Poland to achieve and it is gradually adapting its structure to European standards.

HOBBY:

There are many things that I like doing but my main hobbies are computers and sport. Generally these hobbies really don`t go together but I like them both. I have been interested in computers for six years. I started with games, then I used to make and mix music and now I spend a lot of time making graphics and internet webs. I also surf the Internet. Sometimes I like playing strategy games via Internet but not often because it`s too expensive.

My second hobby is sport. I like all sports connected with board most. My summer hobby is windsurfing. When the weather, time and money allow me, I try to do it as often as possible. I practice windsurfing by the sea, in Chalupy, at the Hel Peninsula. This is often dangerous, difficult but also very exciting. The most dangerous kind of windsurfing is

kitesurfing which I would like to try one day. In winter I practice snowboarding which is my

favourite board-sport. I love jumping and doing tricks. I`ve many friends doing the same, so I don`t have any problems with finding company when going snowboarding.

FAMILLY:

I think I have a small family. There are three people in it. I am the only child but sometimes I wish I had a brother or a sister. This is because I feel lonely at times and I wish I had someone to speak to. I am a second-year student at High School Number 2 in Sopot. My mother is a manager in a trading company and my father is an officer on a passenger vessel. He spends most of his time away from home and this means that I am mostly with my mother. Nevertheless, I think that when we are together we are a happy family. My father and I are very keen on computing and we always spend summer holidays together at Mazurian Lake District. We sail in our boat. My mother likes traveling abroad and she enjoys warm countries in particular.

FREE TIME:

Everybody has his own ways of spending free time. Actually I don`t have it a lot these days, because I have to prepare to my matriculation, but as always there is some time to rest usually during the weekend. I canon say that I`m doing something very original or intresting. I usually stay at home and watch TV for example "Bundy`s world" or something as stupid as that soap opera (I never thought that television can teach me something so I choose the most idiotic programms that the telly shows) . If I don`t have to work on the next day I go to my friends and stay here all the aftermoon. On Fridays or Saturdays I go to the pub to meet friends which I can`t see in the school, but I do it rarely (fees in such places can`t cause heart-break even to a millionare).I like it because this time is ocassion to meet new people or hear what has happend to each one from my group of friends. Next thing I do If I have some time to spend is playing computer games. I really like it so if I had a few days free of any school or housework I would do it without breaks for 10 or 12 hours. For many of poeple this can seem to be ridiculous or even weird, but they don`t understand that it`s very interesting thing so you can sit in the front of computer for a long time without feeling fatigue. Finally if I don`t have any ideas what to do, or I`m very tired I just go to sleep. It is my favourite way of spending free time: nobody interrupts you and you can lay on soft bed as long as you want. I know that when holidays come I will have a lot of free time to spend: I will probably spend a few days near some lake in Mazury or even further: I`ll travel to Deutshland with my father, but it`s another story...

GDAŃSK IS A IDEAL TO VISIT:

Gdansk is an ideal town to visit. It has been one of the most significant cultural centres in Poland for centuries. From the 16th century onwards the city, as a major port and trade centre, has also played an important role as an European culture-creating centre. From its beginning Gdansk has been a specific melting pot of nationalities where different customs, religions and cultures mingle in an atmosphere of tolerance. The citizens` wealth and their admiration for arts were conducive to the development of artistic talents and creation of extraordinary pieces of art.
Numerous cultural establishments in Gdansk such as museums, theatres, musical institutions, art galleries, cinemas, clubs and libraries are responsible for the preservation of artistic tradition and promotion of new achievements in this field.
Historical architecture and pieces of art are Gdansk`s main attractions, because many of them are unique examples on a world-wide scale. Museums are the main institutions to take care of this heritage. The Gdansk City Historical Museum, The National Museum and The Archaeology Museum collects, stores, restores and allows access to cultural treasures in the field of history and art. Here are also placed few theatres, like "Wybrze?e" or "Miniatura" and musical institutions, like State Baltic Philharmonic and Opera House. Another attractions for people who like music are organ concerts at a cathedral in Oliwa and of course St. Dominic Fair, which is held every year in the firs half of August.
From the top of the biggest Gothic brick basilica, (Bazylika Mariacka) , one can enjoy the view of Old Town (Stare Miasto), with an interesting arrangement of town streets which is unique to Gdansk. In Old Town there are also many monuments such as Fontanna Neptuna or ?uraw. Near the Baltic Sea there is a shipyard. Maybe it's not a monument or attraction, but it's important for people who live there.
I think, that Gdansk is a very interesting and attractive city as well as for the people who like watching monuments, develop their culture life or have fun.

MY FUTURE JOB:

I have always wanted to travel. I have often dreamed of taking a trip round the world. I was going to visit Europe, Asia, North and South America, Africa and Australia. I have sometimes done the pools but I have never had much luck.
I`m not a millionaire and I cannot be a research scientist. I think that it is very interesting job. My parents advise me to give up the dreams about travelling and take up another working. It is high time I followed their advice. I am quiet and sensible and I have a strong sense of responsibility. My mind works very smoothly. I like learning foreign languages, using computer and trading. I think I could be a chemist.
Many years ago a chemist shop was a very strange place with strange medicines in brightly-coloured blue, green and purple bottles. Today a chemist sells many things as well as medicines for example: soap, face-powders, razors, shaving-cream, tooth-brush, make-up, all kinds of tea and so on. A chemist would always be very careful in his work. He must never give the wrong medicine or make a mistake by giving too much or too little. Doctors often write very badly and their writing is not easy to read. Chemists can usually read even the worst writing, but their work would be easier if the doctors wrote more clearly.
The chemists use computers in their work, too. I think that the chemist it is a good job in the present days world.

PODANIE O PRACE:

I have seen your advertisement in the Evening News, and I would like to apply to work in your travel agency this summer.
I have some experience of secretarial and office work. After leaving school, I worked for a firm of accountants, where I was given secretarial training and learned how to type and use a computer. I have also worked as an assistant in a department store, so I`m used to dealing with customers and helping with problems.
I have visited Spain and Portugal several times, and know many of the main tourist areas in both countries. I speak Spanish fluently, and I have a basic knowledge of Portuguese. I have always been interested in travel and I have a good sense of geography.
I`m an outgoing and confident person, and I think I would enjoy working with you.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.

RASISM:

Racism has become one of the many burdens amongst multi-cultural worlds like Canada and the States. Racism is a part of each and every one of us. No doubt, we are all racist, but the term racism has been used too loosely. Racism has been mutated to such an extent that it could be a reason for war, a symbol of terrorism, and even an excuse for neglecting. Is that all there is to it? No, actually it is just the beginning. Racism is just like warfare in which there is no shelter and nobody is neutral. Nobody is exempt from this demon. He has haunted us with a bitter curse. On one occasion I remember, nobody would play with me at school. I would walk around by myself and ask people if we could play together. Everywhere that I went, like the process of induction, everyone would avoid me. Like two inducted poles with the same polarity, they would just shimmer off into the distance and continue to do whatever they're doing. Because of racial differences, they neglect me.
People are afraid of the unknown, and it is this difference amongst people that spread rumors and distrust amongst people. Corrupting our thoughts and reasons, we get accustomed to thinking differences are omens. Amongst smaller kids, there is no difficulty in getting them to all play together. There thoughts are not totally corrupted as others.
Probably the demon has no time to bother with smaller children. As children start to grow up, their knowledge of the world increases in astronomical figures. They start to mature and realize the barbarous aspects of life. When this knowledge reaches to a certain point, the demon like racism comes after them. The child begins to understand the term racism and is encouraged to use it in part of their everyday speech. Then when one walks around the school ground, you wouldn't see children from different ethnic groups playing together. They have become insoluble to each other and will never then mix again.
Interaction between each other thus terminates. Nobody benefits from this kind of behavior except for the demon that haunts us. Racism, like the demonic figure it has imposed on us is the reason for distrust, disloyal, and discrimination amongst each and every one of us.

SPORT IN MY LIFE:

I go in for many disciplines of sport, but the best discipline for me is riding a bike. It gives me fun.
The best seasons for riding are spring and summer, when it is warm outside. I usually meet my friends and we travel in the group wherever we want. I think that this kind of sport can become popular because you don't have to possess much money to go in for it.
You don't have to think about fuel or costs. When you want ,you take your bike and just ride. I think that riding a bike is a good way of killing boredom and it can give us a lot of fun and it's also healthy.
I think that this kind of sport is very popular, everyone can go in for it because you don't have to worry about anything just ride..

VIOLENCE IN POLAND- PRZEMOC:

Violence it is one of principal problems not only in Poland but in all the world. Every day we can hear on television, radio or read in newspapers about people who were killed, robbed, arrested or who were guilty.
In my point of view in last years the problem of violence seriously increased. Many young people discharge their unjustified aggression durning football matches in schools or just on streets. This phenomena usually occur as a result of poverty and frustration. Aggression increases in societies where there are a lot of unemployed people. Very often people behave aggressive when they are under influence of alcohol. They don't care about their future, but they only want survive. Very often violence is a result of liberal laws and infirmity of authority.
If half the energy that goes into violent acts were put to good use, at improving living standards and providing education and employment for all, people would be happy and life would be peaceful, but now everything goes in opposed directions.
