Information:

- The clock automatically switches to the normal time mode if no

buttons are pressed for 8 seconds.

- There is a choice of 7 languages for the day of the week display:

German, English, French, Danish, Dutch, Italian and Spanish

- Explanation of the time zone display:

- If you are staying in a country, where the clock still receives the

MSF signal but which has a different time zone than the U.K.,

you can change your clock to the time zone setting of this

country.

For instance, if the time in the country you are in is 1 hour

ahead of british time, set the time zone display to 01.

Now the clock is controlled by MSF but is 1 hour ahead of

british time.

This option will be useful, for instance, if you work with people

in another country. For instance, if you want to know the time in

America, you set the time zone display to -06 for the current

time in Chicago, etc.

Air humidity trend display

After you put the batteries in the weather station the current air

humidity appears on the display. The trend display shows a

neutral course for the air humidity (horizontal arrow).

The further course of the trend display is determined as follows:

- If the air humidity has increased by more than 5% compared to

the last measured temperature after an hour, the trend display

will show a positive course (arrow pointing upwards)

- If the air humidity has decreased by more than 5% compared to

the last measured temperature after an hour, the trend display

will show a negative course (arrow pointing downwards)

If the air humidity has not changed compared to the last measu-

red temperature after an hour, the arrow will point in a horizontal

direction instead of upwards or downwards. The measured air

humidity is then taken into account as a neutral value for the

further forecast.

Indoor climate

The Smileys in the display for indoor temperature and indoor air

humidity shows whether the climate where the weather station is

located is dry, normal or moist.

Dry

Normal

Moist

Air pressure display

The air pressure trend over the last 12 hours is shown in a column

diagram in the display. You also have the possibility of having the

exact air pressure, for instance 7 hours ago, displayed in the

normal air pressure display.

15

Summer time display

The summer time is shown when the -symbol appears on the

display. The clock is set via the MSF signal.

°C/°F Temperature display

The temperature display can be shown in °C or °F. Briefly press

the „t“ to select the different modes.

Temperature trend display

After you put the batteries in, the weather station measures the

current temperature. The trend display shows a neutral temperatu-

re trend (horizontal arrow).

The further course of the trend display is determined as follows:

- If the temperature has increased by more than 1 °C compared

to the last measured temperature, a positive course is displayed

(arrow pointing upwards).

- If the temperature has decreased by more than 1 °C compared

to the last measured temperature, a negative course is displayed

(arrow pointing downwards).

If the temperature has not changed by more than 1 °C compared

to the last measured temperature after an hour, the arrow will

point in a horizontal direction instead of upwards or downwards.

The measured temperature is then taken into account as a neutral

value for the further forecast.

Maximum/minimum temperature/

air humidity

• Briefly press the „MAX/MIN“ button to call up the maximum

and minimum temperature and air humidity. The display chan-

ges after 5 seconds back to the normal time mode.

14

background image

To do so please take the following procedure:

• Briefly press the „AIR PRESSURE“ button to show the air pressu-

re readings over the last few hours. Pressing seven times = the

air pressure reading seven hours ago.

• To obtain an exact reading set the altitude of the weather

station as follows:

Press and hold the button „AIR PRESSURE“ for 3 seconds and

use the „s & t“ buttons for setting the altitude in metres above

NZ (normal zero). Briefly press „AIR PRESSURE“ to confirm this.

You always have to change the altitude setting if you change

the location of your weather station.

Note:

- The air pressure decreases the higher the altitude is.

- For each 8 metres this is approximately –1 hPa

- You cannot have the air pressure displayed for a specific height

by adjusting the altitude in metres of the set height. The weather

station always measures the current location reading.

You can have the air pressure shown in mb/hPa or inHg. Briefly

press the „s“ button to choose which option you want on the

display.

Weather forecast

The weather station uses the air pressure data of the past 4 hours

to make a weather forecast for the next 12 to 24 hours.

Here you have to take into account the fact that the data is not

correct during the first 12 hours after you put the batteries in,

because the weather station first has to adjust to the existing con-

ditions after it is switched on.

The forecast can be made for a radius of 15- 20 km.

The station uses 5 different animated symbols for forecasting the

weather: sun, clouds, rain, snow and storm

Sun Clouds Rain Frost Warning Snow Storm

16

Note:

If the temperature falls below +4 °C, the snow crystal symbol

appears for a „Frost Warning“.

Location information / moon phase /

sunrise and sunset display /tides display

Press and hold the „LOCATION“ button for 3 seconds, until the

choice of town starts to blink. You now use the „+“ & „ -“ buttons

to set the location.

• Press „LOCATION“ to confirm this.

You will find the list of towns in the enclosure.

The weather station now uses the stored information for the selec-

ted town to determine the sunrise and sunset, the strengths of the

tides, and the sun and moon phases.

The strengths of the tides are indicated by ST, ME and

WK. WK = Weak, ST = Strong and ME = Medium

Battery status display

The battery symbol in the weather station display indicates whe-

ther the weather station‘s batteries or the outside sensor‘s batteries

have to be changed.

- Battery status display of the weather station in the time area of

the display

- Battery status display of the outside sensor in the outside area of

the display

Illumination

Briefly press the „SNOOZE/LIGHT“ button to activate the illumina-

tion of the display for 5 seconds.

Radio link to outside sensor

• To manually establish a link with the outside sensor, press and

hold the „CHANNEL“ button for 3 seconds.

• Briefly press the „CHANNEL“ button to select a channel (1 to

3). This enables you to seek information on a maximum of 3

outside sensors for one weather station. However, the outside

sensor fitted to the weather station only transmits on the first

channel and cannot be adjusted.

When you press the „CHANNEL“ button four times an arrow

circle symbol appears underneath the channel number. Now

the weather station automatically changes between the indivi-

dual channels.

• Supplied outdoor sensor for channel 1 use only!

Additional cable sensor

You have the option of fitting the cable sensor, which is supplied

with your weather station, onto the actual external sensor. For

instance, this enables you to keep the outside sensor indoors

when the weather is extremely cold, and still have the outside

temperature displayed. We recommend using the cable sensor for

a temperature of approximately - 5°C or below. This prevents the

battery or the display of the outdoor sensor from freezing, hence

ensuring that it does not stop working.

You can also put the additional sensor in a place that is difficult

to access, and conveniently read the values on the display of the

weather station.

Connect the cable sensor by

plugging it into the socket on

the right hand of the outside

sensor.

Receiving the radio signal

• The clock automatically starts the search for the MSF signal after

you restart it or change the batteries. The radio tower symbol

begins to blink.

• The clock automatically starts trying to synchronise with the MSF

signal at 2.00 a.m., to correct any deviations that might have

occurred. If this synchronisation attempt should fail (the radio

tower symbol on the display disappears), another attempt is

automatically started exactly on the hour an hour later. This

process is automatically repeated up to 4 times.

• To start the manual MSF signal reception press and hold the

„t“ button for 3 seconds. If no signal is received during the

next 7 minutes, the search for the MSF signal stops (the radio

tower symbol on the display disappears) and another search

are automatically started exactly on the hour an hour later.

Information:

- A blinking radio tower means that MSF signal reception has

started.

- The permanent display of a radio tower symbol means the MSF

signal has been successfully received.

18

19

background image

- We recommend a minimum distance of 2.5 metres from

anything that causes interference, such as televisions or compu-

ter monitors.

- In rooms with concrete walls (for instance on the basement floor)

and office buildings the signal is weaker. In extreme cases place

the alarm clock next to a window.

- Since there is less atmospheric disturbance at night, in most

cases this is a time when a radio signal can be received.

Synchronising the time display once a day is sufficient to

maintain its precision right down to the last second.

Note:

If the weather station cannot receive the MSF signal (due to distur-

bances, a great distance from the transmitter, or similar problems)

you can set the time manually. As soon as it becomes possible

to receive a MSF signal the time and date will be automatically

adjusted.

We reserve the right to make technical changes!

Troubleshooting

Problem Solution

The MSF signal

for the time

cannot be received.

The temperature display

on the sensor doesn‘t

match the display on the

weather station.

You think the temperature

display of the sensor

is too high.

The weather station is not

receiving a signal from

the sensor.

The sunrise/sunset time

is not correct.

The display is illegible or

the function is unclear.

Don‘t put the weather station in the

immediate vicinity of other electrical

appliances or put it near a window (if

the walls of the building are made of

concrete) and restart the radio recepti-

on search.

If necessary, set the „RESET“ button on

the back of the clock.

Make sure that the sensor signal is

being received. Synchronise the radio

link manually by pressing and holding

the „CHANNEL“ button for 3 seconds.

Our devices have a tolerance range

(see technical data) that allows for

a certain temperature deviation. Ho-

wever, you should check whether the

sensor is near a source of heat.

Synchronise the signal manually by

pressing and holding the „CHANNEL“

button for 3 seconds, and check whe-

ther other nearby electrical appliances

are disturbing the connection.

Check whether the right location has

been set for your area. You will the list

of locations in the enclosure.

Remove the batteries from the weather

station and put them back in again.
