Didn't see a section for GBP/JPY. Inside bars confuse me a little. Are
most of you straddling this IB or would you straddle the bar before for
a more definite trend? This is the 4 hour with an inside off of the 200
ema.

Hey Hoss,

I am a big fan of IBs, but not on any time frame lower then the daily.
Honestly, I highly highly suggest you play them on daily and higher
timeframes, before even attempting them on the 4hr. They are really
tricky on the lower charts, and you have to make a lot more
decisions(taking quicker profits, being more numble). Of coruse this is
just my opinion, but you will come across so many on the 4hr, often it
is hard to figure the bad from the good, from the great.

Best,
M

I'm A Newbie

Morning,

I just joined the PF and I am learning the 6 150 ma method. I took this
trade this morning on the 4H. What I want to know is this. Is the green
arrow the first touch of the 6 ma past the 150 or is it the red arrow.
(now just slightly down from the 6 ma cross.)

Also how does PA play into the first touch of the 6 ma

Many thanks and happy pipping

hello
billser, yes the green was the first touch. the second was viable also
although gave a larger stop and a less consevative trade. looking now
it appears it was kaching on both.

a bit confusing since the 150 and 365 are nearly overlap, but yes
the 365 is the touch after on the green, the 150 was a bit before.

I always wait for the price and smaller EMA to cross to play the
bounce of the 150 EMA or 365 EMA. In this case 10 EMA or 6 EMA crossed
the 150 EMA using my NF feed.
Note there is a little difference between billser and my charts.

There
was an IB that formed here on 3/16. It broke short and then reversed
and went long for a nice move. If you took a loss after the break down,
would you usually then take it long as well?

Also, do you normally have a directional bias looking at Inside Bars?

Thanks.

I personally don't like to be too direction biased. After
demoing/live trading many of these IBs, I have come to realize to just
play them at important points, and let the market spell itself out.
After all an IB is consolidation, when their is consolidation we are
assuming others see this consolidation and that is where we are going
to get our spark on a break out. I always close and reverse(on the same
day).

This is not quite a pin bar(that I would consider playing). This
is more of a neutral bar. This is because the open and close are more
near the center of the bar.

Mike

edit* here is one of those type of neutral bars. The one from today has
a longer nose so its a bit more tricky, but I think it is best to wait
for a more solid pin bar, this way we are more confident.
