Image Number 70 - Kidney, amyloidosis
Arrows 1 and 2 identify glomeruli which have been completely hyalinized with amyloid. In the kidney, amyloid is deposited in the glomeruli, the peritubular regions and the vasculature. Initially the deposition of amyloid occurs in the mesangial matrix. Over time the deposition extends into the subendothelial and subepithelial regions.
